GET YOUR BRAIN WET! Join Friends of Accotink Creek in partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation to get trash out of our waterways during the Annual Potomac Watershed Cleanup in Fairfax County. See WHY WE FIGHT Video and WHY WE MUST CARE Video , then become the solution. How can you help? - Join us at one, two, or as many cleanups as you like. Have friends? - Invite them to join. Spread the word. Your civic association, club, school, business, etc. is welcome to join or share the news in newsletters or websites! Are you a leader? - Take charge of one or more of our cleanup sites, by registering and directing volunteers. We provide supplies for the day of the cleanup, including trash bags, gloves, and sign-in sheets. Volunteer to help clean the Accotink Creek watershed! Also, check our calendar March, April & May . We can't rest now - the litterbugs never rest! Want to stop litter before it starts? A plastic bag may endure for centuries, but anti-plastic bag legislation has a typical lifespan of mere hours in the Virginia General Assembly. It was better in 2015 - SB1103 was passed by the Senate before dying in the House of Delegates. Read of the short, brave life of this year's bill, then contact your Virginia legislators to support putting a tax on disposable shopping bags. This makes the sixth year running similar bills have been tabled in committee without action, but let your legislators know anyway! See how others contributed to last year's cleanup.

 Accotink Creek at Fairfax Blvd: From I-66 take Exit 60 onto Chain Bridge Road (123) south, turn left at 2nd light onto Fairfax Blvd/Lee Hwy (29/50), go about one mile and turn left at Rebel Run into Regency Furniture/P.J.  Accotink Creek at Franconia - Springfield Parkway: From I-95 take Exit 169 onto Old Keene Mill Road (644) west, go about 1.5 miles and turn left onto Hunter Village Drive. Go about 1 mile.  Accotink Creek at Fullerton Road: From I-95 take Exit 167 onto Backlick Road, first right on Fullerton Road. Go about .75 mile, turn left onto Boston Blvd, first left into Costco and left again, passing the front entrance. Parking in far corner of Costco lot by tire shop is where we will meet.  Accotink Creek at Old Lee Hwy: From I-66 take Exit 62 onto Nutley Street (243) south, at end of Nutley turn right on Arlington Blvd (50), go about .75 miles to Fairfax Circle and turn left on Old Lee Hwy.  Accotink Creek at Telegraph Road: From I-95 take Exit 166A onto Fairfax county Pkwy (7100) south, go about one mile and turn right on Telegraph Road (611), go about .75 mile and turn right on Telegraph Square Drive and right into parking lot alongside Telegraph Road.
